Hi Guys,

I know Sturox made a similar roof rack recently and a buddy of mine and I are going to start a similar project.
The issue I have at the moment is that I found some really good drawings of the highlander (high) roof rack and now I've lost the url. (you may shout abuse about.... now.)
So if any of you wise and bearded ones happen to have a url I'd be most grateful as I'm supposed to be working :p

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Dr_Evil
I have that link but the one I found on here and embarrassingly did not keep had the PDF plans for both high and low versions.
This should do well as a good starting point.
I'm going to get rid of my pesky and quit useless landy roof bars first, meaning the dreaded headlining removal and then I may as well fix/replace/weld up permanently the rear sun roof.
Tanks again and I'll keep you posted if I find the URL

Cheers

C

I know the link you are meaning....but don't have it handy...I know useless!!

However I didn't really go by the pdf and the measurements, as went from my own by lining up the steel bars on the roof and making it from there, as then I get them just as I want.

Best way to start is measure up the gutter rail (length and width) and then make up a jigg, as speaking from experience, its not easy to keep lifting it onto the roof, esp when you are nearing the end of completion, as there is a fair bit of steel used ;)

As for your existing roof bars - I have now made a Baja style rack that sits the same level as the bars, so its only about 10cm from the roof which is the space I need for the sunroofs to open, and saves the hassle of removing the bars.

Should have one finished in a few weeks, and powder-coated on my roof this time, just sorting out the finishing touches - how many lights on the front (thinking of 6) and the spacing - whether g4 style for 4 of them or evenly spaced, lights on the rear and now looking at small work lights on the sides to act as puddle lights - I love lights

Is that the Second one you started? Awesome.
Do you have a piccy? Go-on; go-on; go-on; go-on; go-on; go-on; go-on; go-on; gissa look :)

Getting a dab hand now at these racks...

See my thread here..half way down there is a pic

expedition rack

Although I have now hacked off the front wind deflector as wasn't really happy with it, so just spent the last couple of days sanding it all down ready, and tonight I have been making the light mounts for the front....so its nearing completion
