looking at a roof on ebay for a series 3 which has a safari roof. Is it possible to remove the safari roof to leave the "normal" roof.

No, but you can change the safari roof for a normal roof...
you'll need some friends to help you lift it off tho...

Why would you want to remove the safari roof ? They are very effective .
You can remove it if you want you will need a drill for the rivets that the S-roof uses to hold it to the Z section spacers , and the edge insulator blocks are just a nut and bolt right thru , so you will need some grommets .
