Come to the conclusion I need to sell the p38 which is upsetting to say the least. Just can’t keep it as won’t be able lift the dogs into once they fully grown and too high for them to jump up. I’m annoyed and a bit gutted but know it’s the right thing to do have to get a lower estate car.

My P38 is pretty high. Even people struggle jumping in. But not the 9” tall terrier he gets in no issues. And when he’s too old to jump in he don’t weigh a lot I can lift him up. He does a run up before getting in the footwell then up. Not worried about him scratching the interior - is his p38 - but no damage

I've got two who refuse to jump in :( the younger one because I was told by the breeder NOT to let him jump until the growth plates were well developed at around 2 years old. He enjoyed being lifted so much that now he doesn't see why he should jump. The older one, only 10 months between them, decided that if 'he' was going to be lifted then he wasn't going to jump in either:rolleyes: but he will jump out merely to get off on the walk and get the 'daily male' sniffs first.

At my advancing years lifting a grown dog is a bit much, so what I do is lift the front paws up to rest them on the lowered-down back (it's a D4) and then just lift the rear ends up with my hand between their back legs - they seem to enjoy being 'flicked right up!! Both of them will stand like this for ages wagging their tails and waiting for the final lift. Beardies love fun things and think it is a game, hence their refusal to jump!!! I do have a dog ramp but that is deemed functional rather than fun by the canines.

Get a half scaffold board, let them walk up that ,,,

Cover it with carpet if you need a RR look to it ...:D

Dogs are going to be around 60kg plus when fully being dogue de Bordeaux not the most agile and don’t really want them jumping on the legs as a lot weight to them. Lifting is a option but missus will struggle so think a lower estate car is a better option. Will miss the P38 and probably regret selling in the next year or 2 but that’s life all had cars we regret we selling. I’ll get a new mot on it and see what happens in no rush so who knows might still have it next year haha.

So you need something low that will carry multiple large dogs, a misses, the wife, 3 kids and hand luggage? TBH don’t think a P38 is big enough for you there’ll be no room for velour covered scaffold planks without a trailer. You could put the wife and kids in a trailer but trust me they click on the moment you stop to unhitch the thing, you’ll never get away in time
