Been doing some searching about this stuff then went on amazon to have a look but there are loads of different types, all i want is some brush on rust preventer anyone used it and which one did you use ? or can you suggest any other products ?

I've used rustoleum combicolour. It's very good. Straight onto wire brushed bare steel. I've used on trailing arms, hockey sticks, p/h rod, rad surround and countless similar bits n bobs. On my chassis I did two coats of por15 followed by two coats of frost chassis black. I highly recommend the por15 but you need a respirator if using in an enclosed space! But rustoleum is very good as a single coat paint, sticks to bare steel like **** to a blanket. I first saw it on Aaron's rebuilds.

You can't find por15??? I bought mine off ebay. You can buy a 900-odd ml tin for about £40. Coats a sand blasted 110 chassis twice with about 100ml to spare.

It's a paint and it seals rust. And it's very good. But it's not uv stable which is why I covered it with chassis black. So I suppose I have used it as a primer.

Him or me? I have and it's very good. Goes further than you think, but you have to wet the part first like the instructions say for best results. Tip your mrs' window/bathroom/worktop spray down the sink and use the bottle to spray it on.

It's not a paint as such, but a tannic acid based rust converter. It uses the water as part of a chemical reaction to convert rust. It leaves a black coating which needs to be painted.
Referring to Fertan of course.

Strange but true. I didn't believe it myself until I tried it but follow the intructions exactly as they say and it works. I also tried the hammerite gel from halfrauds. Useless.

Rustoleum combicolour is good stuff. I've used it on a couple of rebuilds with good results.
Seems pretty hard wearing, covers well when using and gives a nice finish once cured.

i'm having a look at that corisol stuff by buzzweld claims to outlast galvanising a chasis

I'm using their Corroless s2 on my current build.
I'd usually just use the rustoleum, but this is just one step further and more protection with the rustoleum over the s2.
Craig/buzzweld even admits the rustoleum stuff is pretty good. So both should see me good for a long time.

Yes, i like the rustoleum stuff. We do an upgrade from it, but if you are on a budget its good. We do the s2 primer, a toughened glass satin black, gloss black, and chassis grey. DO NOT use any of those so called "rust converters" with our coatings though, as the coatings have something far better in-built. the s2 aaron is using beat our read lead, and beat por15 in a test by eastwoods. Thats just the primer. without it being top coated.

I've used epoxy mastic 121 on my build and I'd rate it. It's a two pack brushable paint. I rust converted and primed with dinitrol rc900 first.
