Rust on rear NAS step

Rust on the NAS step. Quick question. I have removed the rear nas step to re-paint it.
Do i get it sand blasted and powder coated or do i get a couple of tins from Buzzweld and do a 2 stage tin jobbie with rust treatment and a top cover?
Also the Nas bars have lots of surface rust, will sand blasting sort that or will i be better to angle grind the surface rust off?

Get them shot blasted, galvanised, T wash, etch prime, paint black.
Depending on how thick the rust - not easy to tell in the pics - you might get away with just a clean up with a stiff wire wheel on a drill. The acid bath the galvanisers put it in will remove the rest of the rust. No need to shot blast then.

Galvanise as much as possible. While you are at it (there is a minimum charge for galvanising unless you can get a cash job) get your body cappings/bumper/bull bars/treesliders/swing away wheel carrier/light guards/snorkel/etc done as well. Anything that is steel remove and follow the advice above.

As an aside I would avoid powder coating at all costs. It may look good initially but as soon as you use your land rover for land rover things it will chip and allow water to get in behind it. As water gets behind the plastic coating the steel rusts away inside and you cannot see it happening. The first you know about it is when it is is already too late. With paint you can at least see the rust forming and rub down and repaint appropriately.

+1....powder coating is crap. Galvanise is the way to go and its not that expensive.

The rust does not look that bad from the pictures, although it is always difficult to tell until you start. You may bet away with a cup brush on an angle grinder, but sand blasting will definitely remove it.

Ide get them off the floor before her indoors clocks what you are upto
