right my 90 2.5 td overheated last week and it turned out to be the water pump,so i had a brand new one fitted, when the mechanic bought it home to me it overheated again when he took the cowling off the back of the rad was solid with mud,so they towed to a jet wash and gave it a good clean but recommended i give it a good going over with the jet wash,so i have now done this.they also fitted a brand new viscous and a range rover fan which is larger.problem is that before all this the temp guage generally sat smack bang in the middle,it now sits right at the end of the white section on the guage, i drove it for about 15 mins and was worried it would overheat so bought it home, left it runnin for 15 mins and it just sits right at the end of the white section on the guage,so is this ok or what could be causing it to run so warm.as daft as it sounds it also has a very warm strange smell if that makes sense

My V8 was running at the end of the white after changing the thermostat but cured it by fitting a new temp gauge. It had been showing normal before whilst running cold.
Check the actual temp of the engine if you can to see if it is actually overheating.

was thinking of changing the guage or changing the radiator??
im not sure whether to take it on a lomg run to see whether it would overheat but i did leave it 15 mins runnin outside the house with it on the end of the white bit on guage,or fitting a kenlowe fan.dont know what route to take
