Looking at the engine mating surface of my timing case cover (200TDI Disco Engine in 1987 90) it is fairly rough. I don't like using RTV but I may have no choice. What do you think, try it without and hope its ok at the weekend when driving door deep in mud and water, or just use it and stop over thinking this stuff
(The water pump side is also suspect.....)
