Rreelander ES thermostat.. please help !

I need to replace the thermostat, and being a girl, I have no idea where to start. Im determined to acheive this to prove my husband wrong lol, but would love someone to give me some non-techie instructions, if they would be so kind

2002 Freelander ES petrol 1.8 btw.

fit the remote thermostat (PRT) - if yu got a 1.8.

PRRT Colours
- Cream is 87°C With Medium Spring: first being used on FreeLander & MGF/TF.
- Black is 82°C With Hard Spring: Not suitable for Rover K engines.
- Grey is 82°C With Light Spring: Latest being used on Freelander (MGF/TF ?). Land Rover replace the old stat (87°C) with this one if they have to open the coolant circuit. THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT !!!
PCH001190 Land Rover cream PRRT kit (including all the hoses and clips needed to make it fit). It is meant to be fitted on a Freelander. (BUY this for an early S1)

ok quick question.
looks like my stat housing is cream colour. can I just take that part off and replace the stat inside, or do i have to replace the whole hose assembly?

I think yu replace the stat and housing as one piece.
