Hi, I'm new to this as I have just bought a 2005 4.4 petrol Sport HSE with lots of stuff wrong with it but hey what else are you going to spend your money on!
Gradually going round the vehicle and trying to bring it back but one thing stumps me.
I am trying to open the tailgate glass but it is locked and unresponsive. I can open the whole tailgate but not just the glass and it seems impossible to get to or release. Any ideas please.

OK....I have managed to get the tailgate glass open fitted a new switch, repaired the broken wiring, but there still does not seem to be any power going to the switch. Main tailgate switch is working OK thankfully but I cannot seem to find a fuse or relay listed for these locks any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

have u looked under the passenger seat carpet as there’s a connector that goes to the rear tailgate , see if u have a 12 Vdc supply on both sides of the connector using a multimeter

alas the passenger side can suffer with water ingress from either blocked sunroof drains or via the A pillar fixings, if there is water there it can’t get out in turn will submerge any connectors that are there and of course the carpet

the connector will be light grey , ur have to remove the inner day sill trims to gain access to it , think only has 2 x wires , there are other connectors by the footwell but hopefully it’s just a bad connector under ur passenger seat carpet

plus I’ve also seen bad connectors that’s behind ur tailgate panel

when I’ve done wiring fault finding I’ve used the multimeter first then used a test light after

hope that also helps

Many thanks for the reply...I had seen this diagram but was unable to find it on my car. After your reply and to make doubly sure that I am not going crazy, I have lifted the surrounding carpets and lifted the tool tray and there is no sign of it. Mine is a 2005 RRS HSE 4.4 petrol, although it does have the tow bar fitted this fuse box is not there.

ur so welcome , always a team effort

that’s weird , cabin fuse box should be behind the passenger side glove box, the lower one, there’s a clip on the side that u carefully lift and glove box should drop down on its hinges revealing the fuse box , that’s where the C0582 is , blue one

Also found a picture of where that small connector should be under the carpet C3007 and C3008 , can see it’s just back from the main loom where you’ve removed the sill tray

hope that helps

Know it’s the wrong side , lol, but shows u where the passenger side fuse box is , indeed behind the lower one, that clip on the side u carefully lift it

hope that’s useful
