Recently had beloved RR sport remapped and now there is no accelerator lag and its a lot faster. EGR valves turned off etc and its great.
BUT - as always with mt car now have a new problem. If I boot it about its great until I hit a mountain and I live in the Alps!!! Once on the mountain road if I give it some welly for 5 mins car goes into limp mode. Switch off and all ok and as long as I dont rev it past 3500 revs its ok. Try again to book it and limp mode. All intercooler hoses checked and OK
Could this be a fuel filter or pump >?????

Could be your “wonderful” map:D

When you say in the mountains do you have a big altitude change? Does your map compensate for this?

so who mapped? was it a generic map “off the shelf”?
I would take it back.

Map done by a specialist called Mike at dynachip pro tuning. Specialist in the field. He did remap and car is incredible now. But when driving in Alps I normally go from 700m to 1500m to get home and if I boot it it goes into limp mode. Could this effect the remap!!!!!

So should be a good map then.
I would certainly get on the phone to them, and then I guess get it plugged into diagnostics to see what codes in case something else is not right.

Maybe dynachip assume 99% are used for the school run at low altitude:rolleyes:

as a side note and what everyone has said may I add a remap can over write the EGR blanking patch , also need to ensure the software that self motors the turbo can also be over written

personally with the issues that the TDV6 has I wouldn’t remap it, powerful enough as it is, mine has the egrs blanked , fully serviced and pulls like a train, but of course that’s my own personal opinion

Have a look first and ensure the MAP sensor is clean along with the air filter ,if ok as suggested take it back

ps, I also assume the belts and oil pump has been replaced
 
Paying to have a vehicle made inoperative for the environment you live in. Hmmmm. ;)
I wonder why LR had it set up the way they did?

must admit I thought about having mine remapped but at the end of the day drives exceptionally well , don’t wish to decrease the MPG which a remap would do, plus with the issues these engines have didn’t want to put it under any more stress

will sit at motorway speeds all day long , returning around 30mpg , plenty of torque so decided against it , plus wonder how many inform ins companies and upgrade the brakes after a remap,;)

And to add to that, see what happens if you unplug the MAF sensor. On second thoughts don't unless you can clear any fault code it throws up.:eek:

Funny enough when I had my brake servo replaced under a recall they left the MAF sensor unplugged , didn’t notice at first until it started to drink fuel like no tomorrow, assume the ecu has a default setting when it doesn’t get the correct signal back from the sensors

but don’t mind admitting not up to the intricacies in great detail of the sensors , only have a very basic understanding

when I blanked my egrs the MAP sensor was virtually blocked

My information is that the MAF modifies the basic fuelling according to atmospheric pressure (airflow), and temperature, as needed to meet emissions regs, if the MAF fails it causes problems. The P38 will run with it disconnected but it does log a fault and use slightly more fuel. The 2003 Transit has EGR but no MA.F.

Had to look it up myself a little while ago, but basically same in what ur saying

there was also some back smoke which at first thought it was a split intercooler hose, that’s when I noticed the MAF had been left unplugged
