Hi,

I have a RR Vogue L322 03 V8.

The blow heaters are working and blowing out air no problem however the air is not heating up thus not warming the car up inside. Obviously we have turned all the heating controls onto hot but nothing heats the air up. The air con works absolutely fine and the air goes very cold as it should. Obviously given the summer weather in the UK up until recently we have not noticed it before however now its cold trust me we notice it! ;-/

Any thoughts/advise?

Many thanks everyone.

theres a blue and red dial under the vents have you checked that? also does the heater work in the back? any fuses gone? you really need diagnostics the controls work by electric motors

Hi there Johnsteel,

Many thanks for your reply.

Yes I have checked that dial and turned it round to "red" for heating and that does nothing. A few weeks ago there was some very minimal warm air coming out the fans but now nothing. No I don't think the heating works in the back either.

I will check the fuses again tomorrow but wouldn't the same fuses control the air con or the actual blowers blowing air?

Thanks again.

Colin

In the engine bay under the ABS ECU is a pair of valves...these control the coolant flow to the heater matrix....

On the older Range Rovers, hot coolant flowed through the heater matrix all the time and if you wanted hot air, the intake air was then divereted to pass over the heater matix.

On the L322, the heater matrix temperature is controlled by these two valves (one for each side of the car!) these have been known to stick or leak or both!!

Not sure what the fix is, I know on the BMW vehicles the L322 is based on, it is possible to get them out and refurb them and reseal and refit....now they are the same on the L322, but I have not as yet heard of anyone on here doing the same...a search on bimmer forums could lead to a solution of you...

There could also be an airlock in the system, I keep suffering from these at the moment which I am trying to get to the bottom of!

That would be the first thing to check before starting to tear everything apart !

Hi, would it not just be better to just replace this part and done with? If so what is the actual part/what does it look like and where does it live in the car lol

As Adam suggests above, check for an Air lock first....

My post does come with a picture but I linked the wrong image..I have edited it for the correct one!

when the engines been running switch it off and feel the pipes that head for the heater matrix in the dash. as you stand in front right hand side by the side of the engine but fixed to the wing from the valve that saint has shown and they head back towards the dash. with the heater control on hot they should be hot.
