If you're saying the battery has been fully charged off the car and is dropping to 11v while still off the car/disconnected, then it's dead and you need a new one
That's what i thought.
So the battery might be the greater factor that my rover won't lift and adjust height on its own?
I hope it is, range rover maintenance in my country is a pain in the ass

At 5 yr old , and having been at that voltage for an unknown amount of time, I would say bite the bullet. The crystals have probably sulfated.
About that, there's something white coming out of the air vent hole in the battery. Probably assures what your stating here.

I will definitely change it soon and get back to you with the results.
Thanks a bunch guys. Amazing forum!
Whilst I'm thinking about it. Just in case..... wear protective gloves to remove the battery, and clean out the compartment where any of the 'white stuff' is . It could be sulphuric acid.
Powdery = most likely potassium carbonate
Liquid = possibly acid.
Take no chances :)

Thank you for your care. Will do!

It's aged dramatically since we last spoke then.o_O
I also realized this, I'm sorry i was definitely mistaken about the age. I thought my brother changed it a couple years ago. Turns out he didn't and the battery is still the same one when we first baught it before 4 to 5 years.
I'm sincerely sorry for that, it was my mistake.

I really appreciate your help guys, the battery is definitely older than 5 years, i will try and see if it can be charged first and if I cant i surely need ro change it, its about time anyways.
I will check everything you asked from me and get back to you.
One more thing. I disconnected the battery poles for 20 minutes and the did a reset with touching both chordes together.
While i was waiting i tested the battery with no poles. It says 12v. After 20 minutes and before connection it read 11v. I don't know if this makes a difference, just letting you know.
All is appreciated thank you so much.

Ur more than welcome, always a team effort as we all have knowledge over the years of different landies and systems so as a collective ur find a vast amount of knowledge here , along with members always happy to help

main secret is you’ve always asked with politeness , including please and thank u , that goes along way, the forum is like a family where we all help each other and great to also have u on board

indeed as mentioned battery sounds knackered, when u get chance please have a look at the label if it’s still there or if there isn’t one a picture plse , we can then get a good idea by it’s size

Can also guide u if u wish for a replacement battery including what CCA, AH, it should be

as a side note I assume you’ve had the oil pump replaced when u had the belts changed , if the engine is a TDV6 2.7 litre , but will concentrate on the battery and suspension first as I’m good at waffling in going off tangent with a conversation, lol

Plse don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as u like , even if u think there daft , always happy to help

look forward to the results u get back, but think we need to get that battery sorted out first

Handy u have a multimeter , plus do u happen to have diagnostics yet plse , thks

Have you also double checked the system isn't inhibited/in manual mode?

hi mate

May i ask a daft question plse , do u mean when the canbus system shuts the suspension down by stopping it being moved, ie lights go out in the terrain response , raise lower buttons , thks buddy

Thanks alot again.
I have the 4.4 engine. I didn't change the belts.
I will tell you what exactly happened and how i started realising that something is wrong.
I went to my local mechanic after a sit of 6 months. I changed all the fluids in the car, including the suspension fluid.
That was exactly a year ago, i started to notice that the height of the range on the screen on standard, but on the lowering and lifting keys, the orange light is on offroad, moreover before parking it i was resting it on access mode.
It use to raise by it own when i turned it on.

After 2 days i realized that sometimes on the lowering and lifting buttons, even when i was driving and turning off the vehical for couple of minutes, when i turn it on, the buttons will also show off-road, so i press down and it rasies up.
It might sound crazy but this is what i have to deal with while driving.

Once i ignored it, and was turning on a sharp turn going downwards, the range turned off steering and turned and a light of the range with 2 arrows from the left and right turned on the dashboard. I turned it back on and repushed the down button, and after that it went smoothly.

This was so scary for me, i could have smashed the wall infornt of me.
That's why i wanted your guys advice before i take it to my local mechanic, because honestly I'm scared i might get charged alot of money for nothing.

My range rover is an 4.4 sport hse version. With a 90,000 miles on it.

I've only driven it for 10,000 miles maximum. I don't offroad nor do crazy atuff with it. I just feel safer in it in the snow and rain and bad weather conditions.

many thks for the background , alas I assumed it was the 2.7 Diesel engine , indeed the 4.4 has timing chains so a different beast, so please ignore me mentioning about the oil pump

so ref those arrows , have u experienced brakes trying to come on round a corner please , particularly turning left

does it try and change suspension height over or under 30mph

think I’ve got a good idea of what’s going on but just need to make sure on a few things

plus those arrows, are they on the left hand side of ur instrument panel plse , arrows orange and curve away from one another

thks again for the history and will let u know what I think u need to do after you’ve said what happens round corners and height changing at what speed

plus any joy with battery details please , thks

I meant the dash setting to lock the current height, ie for towing, crawl height for multi storey carparks etc

For the battery details im just on my way home and i will take a pic of it and send it here, if it makes any difference i read on the lable 100Amps.

As for trying to change heights over speeds, it doesn't. But sometimes on parking and starting to move i hear air going out (that PSHH sound) I don't know what its called lol.

I can see the change in the height leves changing when ascending and descending and on turns which i think is normal due to the range adjusting to the road.

I attached the image i got from google of the warning light.

many thks

so from the details it sounds like

your steering wheel angle sensor is out and will need checking / recalibrating, as that symbol can come up if it’s out of sync

Height sensors are out more than 10mm so it keeps trying to raise itself , again they will need recalibrating to the correct height

there are a few options, u can buy ur own diagnostics which will virtually do everything u need or a garage

here in the uk we use the gap iid , alas it’s around £420.00 , resale value is also very good, they command around £320

this is the link to the company , there based on Canada so don’t know what the rate plus postage would be

hope that helps a little but sadly ur need diagnostics to resolve this

battery should indeed be around 100 AH, 900 CCA
