Not really a post of much importance, more of a rant of my own stupidity!
I bought my first land rover when I was 13, was a series 3 a bit battered but had fun driving round the fields, the obsession carried on from there and I have had quite a few since then. But I always kept the series cause it was special if ya know what I mean. Now being 17 and having just past my test and saved the many millions of pounds required to insure even a series I took it for it's MOT, checked all the normal places for rot, and sorted all the little bits that needed doing.

It failed... Rot on both the tops of the chassie under the rear tub where the cross braces are, the one place I stupidly didn't look at properly, and it's quite bad, running in 4x2 finger patches.

Luckily I have some good friends who are willing to help me fix it, that's kinda why land rovers are set apart from other car people!

So hopefully the old girl will be on the road in a few weeks and will be doing the greenlanes across Derbyshire!

Never mind, keep the faith and hopefully you'll have some fun doing the repairs. You're guaranteed to learn loads in the process. I'm sure there's plenty of people on here who'll answer questions as you go. Take some pics and let us see how it's going :)

Yeah will stick some photos up, i know there is one quite big hole hoping not to find many more! Will stick some motivational music on loud when when I crack the tub off, to prevent any deeply depressing feelings.
Cheers chaps, yeah family friend go me into them when i was younger and it kinda went from there, although as I'm sure you will know it does sometimes feel like it would be easier to dig a hole and throw money in!

Well series land rovers are smaller holes than many cars. At least there is something of value at the end of it whereas a Saxo for instance is loosing money what ever you do! Good luck with the repairs...I see there is a galvanised SWB chassis on Ebay at the moment....!

Haha thats true I guess, and there much nicer to look at. Ain't really got any spare cash about other wise i probably would go with a galvanised chassis, but I'll make a good job of the welding (i.e. get a good mate to do it for me!) and i think she well see another 100,000 miles!

oh dear, my sanity has already been stretched this week!
How can you have any form of sanity when you have a Landy ... Series or otherwise?

We are all mad, do you hear? Mad Mad MAD!

"Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to leave and then you left! You left and left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now I'm utterly mad! And ... They're coming to take me away ha ha! They're coming to take me away ho ho hehee haha. To the funny farm where I'll be happy with all my nice new friends in their clean white coats, 'Cause they're coming to take me away Ha haaaaa" (Apologies to Napoleon XIV)

Sorry, got a bit carried away there, what with the use of the word 'sanity'!

Had a John Cleese in 'Clockwise' moment this morning when I jumped in me Landy to set off for the MOT.....turned the key and nothing....:doh::mad::frusty::frusty::violent:

Had a similar moment before mine, took HT lead from coil out overnight because I had to park further down my street (usually keep the landy in a shed on a yard) than I could see... went to start, predictably nothing, took me about 10 mins with the bonnet up to realise what was missing!- another sanity stretcher :doh::doh:
