I have a Defender 90 with a canvass pickup truck top and tonneu cover. I am planning on going on an overland trip to Morocco and would like same addittional carry capacity so would like a 'roof rack' that will mount on the rear tub to give me some addittional storage space but that will still keep the CofG and profile low. I want it to be easily removable when not in use and perhaps with some sort of cover allthough not essential.

Any suggestions?

Nice looking truck Airways.
Is it a Trakkers roof and tonneau?
I've never come across anyone else with one yet.

I know what you mean about needing extra space, its surprising how the lack of a roof means less space, even though you still have the same floor space.

Can't help you with the roofrack idea I'm afraid, though I do have an idea for you.
I've been thinking of a hard aluminium cover which sits on top of the rear tub - in place of your tonneau - and I saw something like this on a double cab recently so I got the number of the fabricator off it

It might be worth calling them if you'll consider the option.

They are N & J Aluminium Linings Ltd
Tel 01200 429955 and they are in Clitheroe.
You can find them on Google

Good luck with your search. I'll be watching this thread with great interest.
And I hope you have a fab trip to Morocco. When are you going?

I had a roofrack on a 110 that fastened to the windscreen hinges and dropped down to the rear crossmember at the back with a pair of brackets half way down that bolted to the rear tub. It was designed to carry telegraph poles (Apparently) No part of it touched the roof at all..

I understand what you require, but even if you could get hold of one, how would you fit it with the hood stick/roll bar (?) supports coming down from the back of the cab to the rear cappings? Are they removable? I think barreti's idea would be your best bet, because the only way I could see some kind of rack fitting would be on the on the cappings on the side, so your rear tonneau cover wouldn't fit on to keep the stuff dry in the back. If you had a hinge up load bay cover, you could also strap stuff directly onto it.
