Hi all

Wondering if you have any ideas. I bought a second hand roof rack, don't know the make.

Unfortunatley two of the feet that wrap under the gutter and are then tightened up have had the bolt bent, so that when I tighten them up they end up bending out wards and come up/over the gutter.

I do not have a vice so can't get in in one and try to bend it back. It's basically a triangular bit of metal with a fold in the bottom to go under the gutter and an M8 bold welded to it which goes up and is bolted to the legs of the roof rack. I have arrowed them in the picture. Anyone know where I might be able to get some replacments?

Bending the bolt back will more than likely weaken it (you would'nt want it going pop when roof rack is loaded & under pressure from wind resistance:eek:), perhaps getting the old bolt cut off and new ones welded on to the gutter grip might be an option. Not too sure where to get spares from though

I got a rack fairly recently - full length 90 size rack and it has 4 clamps at the mo - it can take 10. I doubt it's going anywhere but I intend to make some more as I haven't found a supplier. Either some bolts or even some threaded rod, cut to size and welded to clamps made out of thick angle iron should do the trick.

One of the 4 on mine does the same thing as you mention - it slips as it tightens and comes off the rack. I've just had to compromise by not over-tightening it and then ****ting it with the mallet. The rack hasn't come off yet!

I had a look but I only found one, it looks the same as yours its 3 inch across at the bottom and 4 inches tall.
If its any use to you I can stick it in the post as I dont need it.
