Hi
Has anyone got any advise/ tips? On fitting my new dash cam to my defender I ran the wire for the rear camera inside the roof lining, just inside the driver’s door. On loosening the Lining I broke both of the grey “for tree” clips -they had both become very brittle- I managed to get the remnants of the clips with pliers and a bit of wiggling. I have brought some new “fir tree” clips which appear to be the same size, but they do not want to go in the holes in the roof pillar, even with persuasion from a tap with a hammer. Is there a trick to it? Might it help if the clips were warmed up in boiling water first maybe? Any suggestions please?

I’ve the same problem fitting these, you can hit these fasteners hard enough to damage the plastic top and they still won’t move.

Drop them in a cup of boiling water for a few minutes before fitting.
Also, make sure you’ve got the right ones. There’s a slightly lighter coloured one and they are hard as nails and won’t fit.
Also, get the genuine LR ones, the plastic is a little softer.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I’ll double check I’ve got the right clips and try the hot water trick.
