Hello, am thinking of mounting a couple of spots to the OE roof rack on my disco by drilling holes through the front bar. This be the rack I mean:

Has any one else done this? Or am I missing some potential problems? Seems strange that I haven't found any discos on the web that have had this done???

Thanks :)

its because people either buy a light bar which is reletivly cheap or mount them on a roof rack

Indeedy was just wondering if anyone has used the bar in the above photo.
Would rather have the lights set back on the roof slightly

only the problem i can see is the wiring !!!

it is goin to be seen and easy to cut... im from hull so thats the way i think :) lol

unless u can run it through the bar ??? or cover it up sum how

anthony

Am thinking of running the wires within the frame, through the mount on front offside and down to drivers footwell relay. Although I haven't had a close look yet so just toying with the idea really.
I seem to recall the roof rails are push fit so could also weld the joints shut to make it a bit stronger

Be interested to know if you get anywhere on this, was thinking of doing the same thing myself.

My only concern is whether having 'em that far back would light up the cabin (through sunroof)

If you un-screw the roof rack and drill a small hole beside where the screw hole is you can run the wires through there. Then inside the roof pannel and down. That makes them un-seen inside the cabin. Thats how I did the wiring to my roof bar!
