Roll bar for series 3

Hello again!
Can anyone suggest where i might be able to get a not too expensive roll bar for a series 3? It doesnt have to be mega solid, really want it to mount harness to when the top is off, so would want it to fit inside hard top aswell. Would it need to mount to the chassis or just in the rear tub for this to be strong enough as i've seen a few variations!

Just got a internal roll bar for my Series IIA, with harness bar and hi-lift jack mounts from protection and performance... Don't know where your at but here is the web address....

It was £329.50 plus the dreaded vodka and tonic......

For an internal hoop, hareness bar and hi-lift jack mounts, powder coated including fitting plates to mount on the chassis, personally I would always mount a cage to something solid (Chassis) rather than to the body work!

You know that you can get seat belts that mount to the bulkhead, if all you want to do is have somthing to attach a seat belt to.

The harness bar is for the belt to loop over!! The rear mount is still on the bulkhead, Your harness should not rest on the seat....

The seat is designed to hold the occupant, not take the stresses of the belt!

Are theses legal ?

Of course if you want to go off road then I would recommend a Rally Harness and a roll cage.

I always thought there was a rule about the angle of the belt over the shoulder? Though weather that is related to age of vehicle like fitted belts in the rear i dont know!
Could a harness be attached to the bulkhead in this way and be solid enough?

allwheeltrim do a good quality one for less money, it includes mounting brackets for door sides and I think seat belts.
If you are serious about one then an order for two might get us more discount.

couple of points here.... calling upon my time on the spanners as far as I am aware there is no rule about the angle of the belt over the shoulder. The exmoor belts look legal to me all I would advise is that you check the condition of the metal where you are going to fix the belt!!

If you are going to off-road I agree and would fit bucket seats and hareness' remember not to have the shoulder straps too tight whilst travelling on the road as it makes it virtually impossible to lean forward!

I have fitted 3 point harness' to my series IIA and the rear mount is fitted to the bulkhead panel, though I would advise the fitment of spreader plates, these you can either buy or make! These are what all the rally boys fit when the hareness points go through the car floor.... you can find them here: rallynuts.com : Pro Eye Bolt Back Plates

Remember seat belt fixing bolts are usually 7/16" UNF thread......

Topcat, Have been looking around the midlands for a pipe/tube bender type place, found a couple but not sure if they'l do a small order. I'll be trying to get in touch with them over the next week so i'll keep you posted! All i want is a bar for when the roof off, straight hoop to attach down to chassis would do it i think providing ther's some triangulation from under wheel arch down?

Pic 1 is the outer mounting point
Pic 2 is the inner mounting point
pic 3 is the rear mount of the bulkhead where the above mount screws into
Pic 4 is the hareness going down the bulkhead
Pic 5 is the spreader plate on the other side of the bulkhead, not a brilliant picture but not easy to take!!!

two choices look at a picture of one look easy enough to fabricate, or try sourcing one from military breakers try free adds locals 4x4 shops landy magazines and so forth am looking for a set myself. depends if my pipe bender comes first if it does i will make my own, if that happens i will offer to make you a set too.
