Rocker Shaft end plugs

Stripped my rocker shaft out, unsurprisingly found huge wear under each rocker. Ordered new shaft and new bushes.
The following day I realised that there are two little plugs in the end of the shaft itself, which do NOT come with the new shaft! Doh!
And they only cost about 25p each! Doh!
What's the go with these plugs? Can I cut the ends off my old rocker shaft and drive out the old plugs from the inside? I'm picking that they are simply a cylindrical steel plug with an interference fit into the end of the shaft. I'd imagine if I can get the old ones out, then clean them up a bit, they'd go back in fine with a bit of Loctite.
Anyone got any wisdom on this issue?

Thanks very much
Andrew

this looks Like they are screwed in with a square key can’t see a prob in reusing

Thanks Steve. Yeah - unfortunately mine don't have the little square driver end. They are just blank.

I've got a couple of old rocker shafts so I'll have a go at cutting one down and seeing if the plugs come out. Otherwise it'll be 50p for parts and 20 quid for postage..... :-(

Cheers

That’s a shame, so your option A sounds like a plan as one part number is the solid plug and the other a cup plug like a small core plug so I can’t see a problem with driving out from inside and use studlock , will need to take engine oil pressure 50psi ish

From memory mine are just squared off blank ends, not even dished like a tiny core plug. Maybe a PO has already come across this issue and made his own!
Anyway - with potentially four old ones to choose from, and a lathe to make some new ones, I should be OK! Easy way to save 50p!
Thanks for your help.

Cut 30 mm off both ends of an old shaft and popped the plugs out from the inside with a pin punch. Easy job!
The plugs are simple steel cylinders on mine, so they’ll go back in no bother.
Cheers

Well - the shaft turned up in the post the other day and it comes fitted with the plugs! So problem solved.

Prior to its arrival, I did actually email the suppliers and ask if it did, but got no reply.

So rest assured, if you are getting a Britpart rocker shaft, you should not need to worry about the end plugs.
