I renewed my injector harness a while ago, and fitted a new rocker cover gasket in the process. Ever since I have had a slight leak from the rear area of the cover. I,ve tried a bit of Hylomer but still a wee leak. Anyone any idea why this is happening. You cant over tighten the bolts as they bottom out due to the collar on them. Thinking of putting a washer on each bolt and seeing how that goes. Any suggestions?

Edited to say its an 01 TD5:doh:

dont put a washer on sealant wont work stuck on the outside to stop leak,at the back is a half moon piece in gasket with lips on edges this needs to be felt to ensiure seated correctly

iIf its a new gasket, its not fitted properly you need to take the top & fit again if it has not been pinched out of shape.
If so put a new one on

Cheers guys.

I applied the Hylomer on the gasket the second time I fitted due to leak. But what I have noticed is, the top hat style bush/washer thing with the rubber washer on it, is hitting the top of the block before compressing the gasket. I can see a slight ring mark around the tapped hole. I would swear the gasket is too thin:confused:

James. The leak is from the side above the fuel pressure regulator area. Not at the rear as I suggested. Sorry.

Sure it's your gasket and not your oil return pipe from cyclone unit on side of rocker cover?
Mine became porous and leaked. new one now all clear.

Defo the gasket mate. Going to fit a new one and see how it goes. Cheers.

i would normally silicone sparingly gasket to cover then fit ,it is possible to get poor gasket as with everything nowadays ,i wouldnt use hylomar or non setting sealant ,silicone or similar
