This bolt is proving to be annoying, any ideas how to remove it without a grinder (which I don't have)?

Small sharp cold chisel and a hammer works for me!
Cut a slot in the screw head and try and tap it round using the chisel in the slot. If it doesn't work, keep on chiselling and you will remove the head of the screw! :)

If you are going to do a lot of work on your Disco, I would invest in a 4" grinder. They start from about 20 quid, and are really useful for landy work!

Cheers turboman, I think the investment will be worth it

Happy new year!

Well I managed to grind of that but and low and behold the bolts underneath that hold the sidestep on (where my grinder can't go) are rock solid :(

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Wire brush (both ends if poss.), whack with a hammer, liberal WD40, leave overnight. Wheel brace extension over a ratchet handle, spanner-on-a-spanner, or hammer on a spanner.

There's a full installation guide in my vehicle thread for those....

A note since I fitted mine... The powder coating from the supplier isn't great, 2 years (ish) after fitting mine had cracked and lifted a lot so I had them recoated - double coat, 1 layer zinc, 1 layer matt black. I also clear siliconed all the joins. Also make sure you drop the sliders off after drilling the holes and underseal/paint all the rough edges.

They look exactly like the ones I got from eBay, yeah the powered coating is pretty poo. Great install guide, my challenge is getting the side steps off though. Weirdly enough to the next job is driving lights which I see you also have.

Toolstation do good cheap grinders. I use mine which is 20 quid Welding in work and go through silly abuse and last a year. Good bit of kit
