 Wind blew off the tile, hit the lower roof over our toilet smashed another 5 tiles then bounced onto the Landy bonnet. See pic. I need a new indicator case, stealer want £30 for one, anyone know where I can get one from cheaper.

Bloody house insurance wont cover it and the excess on my car insurance policy is £250 I think. Got a dent specialist coming round asap. All the lights still work though so luckily only superficial damage, just annoying.

All in my name, the house insurance (Zurich) say they wont cover for the car and it needs to be claimed on the car insurance.

Nonsense the damage was caused by the house therefore the house insurance has to pay out. If it had hit a passing car they would have had to pay out. I would contact your car insurance and get them to claim off your house insurance. and then use the legal cover to claim your excess.

i give you one if you wanna pay for postage, it aint new but its an indicator that is perfectly usuable.

Cheers that'd be great, how do you want me to pay? Paypal?

I called the insurance company again posing as a new customer and was told that in the UK your house insurance wont cover your car, so if you were driving past and someones house fell on your car it would be your insurance taht would be liable, I find this hard to swallow, but it seems that this is the case.

p.s. I own the house and I have buildings and contents insurance. It may be that if the policies are in my name its different and the car is in my other halfs name to be fair, so maybe Ill give them a call back now actually!!

Apparently an act of God carries no third party liability....
So if I do not beleive in God... that surely means I should be covered?!

:drum:

send me your address in a private message and ill pop it in the post tomorrow you can send me a postal order or what ever. it should only be a couple of quid they aint heavy.

Floods high wind etc are not classed as acts of god. unexpected earthquakes, Tidal waves and the like are classed as acts of god. A tree falling over, or a slate coming loose are not.

Two years ago my daughter had a ridge tile off her house land on the roof of her car (Renault 5 worth about £100) and the house insurance paid a £500 repair bill without even asking what the car was, No problems.

Ah ok, I think they are trying to blame it on the winds/storm which would be an act of god, Ill have to try and convince them it wasnt particularly windy that night. It was windy, but not the sort of wind you would ecpect to rip tiles from your roof, especially heavy ridge tiles.

Does anyone have the tiny little bit of white plastic that the metal ball socket fits into to hold the headlight at the top? As mine is now cracked and the headlight rocks forwards as a result. I fear that LandRover will charge for a whole headlight case rather than just this one clip.

Please PM me if you have this little bit of plastic!

Thanks.

New indicator light and headlight clipy bit fitted and all sorted apart from the dents in the bonnet that is.

Ere Pikey, can I use the legal cover to claim back my excess, seeing as the vandalism to my Disco wasn't my fault?

Only if you know who caused the damage and they've been to court or accepted a caution

Bugger, I've no idea, and the police showed no interest in trying to find out who did it either, even though there could have been CCTV evidence from the local prison :(
