1 of the reasons i bought a sport model (apart from the alloys) was i read it had a lower ride height than the other models (and also firmer).
When parked next to even a basic model mine sits 1-2 inches higher?

Does anyone know the exact measurements from the wheelarch to the ground or w/arch to centre cap on a sport so i can see if mine is right?

I have just checked the LR specs for the FL Sport (2004/2005MY) and there is no mention of the suspension being any different on the Sport to the other models. Your's should be about the same as any other.

You don't say if your's is a 3 or 5 door but the 3 door is a little bit taller (not including rails on either). Tyres and age can make a little bit of difference too.

Cheers Rog - i was told the sport has 30% stiffer and 30mm lower suspension along with the lower profile tyres (235/50/18) which is why i thought it would be noticeably lower than a non-sport
It's a 3 door i have with the roof bars - might have to remove them when i get the new garage :confused:
 
Your on 18" rims while my standard alloys are 16". Don't remember the tyre size offhand but it's around the 215/65/16. This might explain the difference as I believe you're right about the lower stiffer suspension.
p.s. How do you find it ride/handling wise. I'm happy with the standard setup, but once or twice I've thought it could do with having firmer suspension.
 
I find the ride be be spot on, not too harsh or too soft.
I had a 1998 model FL diesel a few years ago and found it would wallow a bit and wasn't the best when cornering quickly whereas this Sport holds the road well without being too harsh.
On really bumpy surfaces the cabin does suffer from rattles and creaks from the roof area but i put this down to the glass targa tops and rear section as the previous FL did have this problem to a degree
I bought this car as a road car so didn't need any extra ride height so it's the perfect choice of FL for me - just needs a bit more ooomph now :)
 
Something in the back of my mind tells me there were two Freelander Sport models.

The first was just an edition, like the Serengheti, which was just trim differences. The second was the actual sport model which had the difference in suspension etc.

I can't for the life of me remeber why I think that.

There are 2 sport versions - Sport and Sport premium

I'm not 100% sure on differences but i think the premium has heated screen, full leather and maybe some other extras?

Roverron Synergy 2 tuning box, egr bypass & Millers powersport 4 additive used at double dose every fillup. Assuming your standard engine is producing its quoted 110-112bhp you'll now see around 150-160bhp if the various claims made are correct. It should cost you around £260 for the lot & the box & bypass are easily fitted yourself at home. I've had my auto done for over six months now & it does work well & no problems passing the MOT.
