Just ordered a new battery for the P38 2.5 dse, I am assuming it is the receiver causing the flat battery but has anyone experienced the drivers door locking and unlocking itself as you drive? if its locked when I pull up I have to use the remote to unlock it as the door handle will not overide the lock.

Is this all down to the RF or do I have other issues (like the cracked head its in the garage for)

cheers in advance

Is it just the drivers door locking / unlocking? Sounds more like the BeCM doing that. If it was one of the switches in the drivers or front pasenger door, you would expect all of the doors to lock/unlock. Very odd problem! Can you not pull the knob up manually? If this is the case, it sounds as though it's super-locking. Beware of that. If it's super-locked and your remote doesn't open it, you're buggered. (there has been threads on here as to how to get in if it sticks in superlock. Also on Rangerovers.net).
Does your locking / unlocking work normally on all the other doors with the fob?

Derek, it is only the drivers door, to be truthful I have not tried the other doors but their buttons don't drop when the drives door locks. you can't pull the knob up manually either, it just goes loose. I will be getting it back Tuesday and will check the other doors then.

Mine occasionally throws a wobbler. Did it today in fact. I knocked the driver's door lock with my elbow and it threw a fit. Every time I unlocked it, it locked all the doors again. I could unlock it by pulling the button up but then it just locked itself again. When it does that I just put the key in the ignition, take it back out and get out (quickly before it locks me in again). Do a small jig on one leg, turning first anticlockwise (for 3 turns) and then clockwise again for 4 turns. Then I lock and unlock with the key fob and it calms down. I have no idea which part of that procedure is superfluous but I do it all anyway as a kind of good luck/sacrifice dance to the god of doors and it always seems to work.

I changed my RF receiver the other week and that seems to have fixed the battery drain (thanks to the help from the guys on here) and also I can now unlock it from across the garden rather than basically poking the fob through the rear window to get it to hear the signal.

Do you reckon mine is a dodgy door lock or the control module? If it's the door lock is it a breakers job or can you get them new? More importantly how easy are they to fit?

Must remember the dance to the god of doors for the next time mine misbehaves!:D The neighbours think I'm loopy anyway for having one Rangie, let alone two.
I think yours is a dodgy doorlock. Theyre all controlled by the BeCM. The front doors have outstations whilst the rears don't. It sounds more like they just need a good clean and fettling. They're a bit of a tw*t to get out and even worse to get back in. It sound like on yours the lock microswitch is stuck in. Be careful with the rod that goes on the external door handle. The bit it hooks onto is only cast and it breaks relatively easily if forced in the wrong direction when you're taking apart / re-assembling.
You can buy new ones but they're around £120 or so.
