Hey guys, hate to start a 3rd live thread on key re-synching but I think this is more of an alarm fault than just my usual fumblings :p

Background:
Went for a pint on Friday (ok, I actually had 2 ), came out and as I walked up to the Rangie I noticed the indicators were on permanent. OH ohh, I says to myself, don't like the look of this!
Sure enough, went to unlock the car and no response to fob. Unlocked the car with key, went to start and it says 'press unlock' but nothing happens so I went to start and it says engine immobilised. Oh crap, I'm thinking, I've been meaning to track down the EKA code for this. Anyway I thought it might just be interference so I got my brother to come and collect me and we towed the rangie to an area I had parked before without a problem. Still no good but at this stage its requesting the EKA. I knew I wouldn't be able to get the EKA until Monday so I disconnected the battery and towed it home the following day with the RRC.
Only good news on this story was the, believe it or not, cooperation of the local main dealer McElligotts. I rang them at 9.05 Monday morning and had the code at 9.20am. Top marks to John in parts :beer2:

Anyway, the car is taking the EKA fine but I can't get it to recognise the key fob. The passive immobilisation is kicking in everytime I turn the engine off so I have to give it the EKA everytime I go to start it.

I've tried all the recommended resync procedures with both keys (both of which worked no prob before), replaced the batteries but no change.

The manual says that resync is not possible when the Becm is in an alarmed state but even when I disarm the becm using Faultmate it still reverts as soon as I turn it off.

I then thought of the Ultrasonic receiver but disconnecting this has made no difference.

This all leads me to thinking about the RF receiver. If this has failed would it give the symptoms I've described?

Any ideas?

Hi Spud..If the becm is in "Alarmed" and "Lockout" state, the Disarm function in the "Other" menu on module SM022 won't clear the problem, it will need unlocking and resetting with SM035 becm CPU module.:behindsofa:

Hi Irish,

I was hoping you'd be browsing. Before I hit for Edenderry, it's taking the EKA fine and I can start it and drive no problem. The issue only arises when the passive immobilisation kicks in after I take the key out of the ignition. I haven't tried an EDC re-learn yet. Do you reckon its in a lockout state?

I'm in Mayo for a couple of days next week so if I'm still in trouble and you're in country I'll give you a shout.

SpudH, whilst your faultmate is connected why dont try going into becm settings and disarm the immobilizer and see if that cures it whilst you figure out the fault proper.

Great Stuff DM68, that gets me over the immediate problem of having to put in the EKA everytime :D:D

Don't know why I didn't think of it meself :doh:

While I was at it I read the RF outstation memory and its not getting a correct code so therein lies the root of the problem.

I'll do a bit more reading here, RR.net and on the BBS forum before I give in and beg Irishrover for a bit of help :)

Good tool these Faultmates aren't they. Sounds like your rf reciever is knackered but atleast you'll be able to start it easier whilst your fixing it. Good Luck

Hi Spud...I'm in the UK till early April.
If the motor starts, you are not in Lockout status and it probably is an RF fault. Were there any faults logged under "RF memory"?..if all is well, message saying "Valid radio code received" or similar should be shown when the RF code tab is opened on SM022
With SM022 tou can disable the passive immobiliser & EKA functions.
Could well be that the rolling code between the fob and becm is being corrupted or lost.

:welcome2:
