Hey guys, hate to start a 3rd live thread on key re-synching but I think this is more of an alarm fault than just my usual fumblings
Background:
Went for a pint on Friday (ok, I actually had 2 ), came out and as I walked up to the Rangie I noticed the indicators were on permanent. OH ohh, I says to myself, don't like the look of this!
Sure enough, went to unlock the car and no response to fob. Unlocked the car with key, went to start and it says 'press unlock' but nothing happens so I went to start and it says engine immobilised. Oh crap, I'm thinking, I've been meaning to track down the EKA code for this. Anyway I thought it might just be interference so I got my brother to come and collect me and we towed the rangie to an area I had parked before without a problem. Still no good but at this stage its requesting the EKA. I knew I wouldn't be able to get the EKA until Monday so I disconnected the battery and towed it home the following day with the RRC.
Only good news on this story was the, believe it or not, cooperation of the local main dealer McElligotts. I rang them at 9.05 Monday morning and had the code at 9.20am. Top marks to John in parts :beer2:
Anyway, the car is taking the EKA fine but I can't get it to recognise the key fob. The passive immobilisation is kicking in everytime I turn the engine off so I have to give it the EKA everytime I go to start it.
I've tried all the recommended resync procedures with both keys (both of which worked no prob before), replaced the batteries but no change.
The manual says that resync is not possible when the Becm is in an alarmed state but even when I disarm the becm using Faultmate it still reverts as soon as I turn it off.
I then thought of the Ultrasonic receiver but disconnecting this has made no difference.
This all leads me to thinking about the RF receiver. If this has failed would it give the symptoms I've described?
Any ideas?
