Reverse Lights, Ish...

Ok, this is for my dads 200tdi Disco....

When the engine is off, the reverse lights are fine no problem.

When it is on, they flicker really fast so you can barely tell. But when the accelerator is pressed they go back to static. It used to be worse, afew weeks ago they went out when the brake pedal was pressed but we checked the back of the cluster and cleaned it up abit, that seemed to stop.

So, i've checked the plugs to the cluster, there still earthed up, the 'tracks' on the clusters are in one peice and clean.
I've also been underneath and had a look the wires and contacts on the reverse switch, but i can't take it out so can't test that.

Would it be the switch? Or else any other ideas?

sounds like a loose earth to me.

Any idea where the earths are for either of the rear clusters, or the reverse switch?

Could be the switch,
they are a bitch to change ya have to take out all the centre consul then un rivet the rubber gater around the gear levers
Carnt remember which one has to be a genuine switch either diff lock or reversing switch did both on mine when I first got it.
The profile on the end of the switches are differnt so one not work if its not genuine
