Either way round, no difference.

Have you checked the bulbs are ok and if you have 12V at the bulb holders when in reverse.
Also do you have a good earth at the bulb holders.

I have a problem with mine that unless I hold the gear stick hard in reverse and I mean push it hard towards reverse the lights dont work, might be the same problem?? Anyone know if you can adjust the switching point?

Yes, I think you can adjust it. I had a quick look in Rave but couldn't find anything, may be it is Haynes.

Same problem I had, switch played up as soon as I had the new gearbox fitted, new switch sorted it though. Should cost no more than a tenner.

dunt screw it all the way in thou;)
I thought screwing it in further or unscrewing it a bit is how you adjust it...slacken it off...put the car in reverse...ignition on, mate standing behind and then screw it in until the reversing light comes on....but what do I know? Others say its not adjustable.....
