after changing the oil pump in my p38 zf24hp gearbox petrol and refitting the gearbox with new oil and filter the
reverse is only crawling a bit. whatever I try with driving or shifting ,,,no luck.......
Before the job everything was doing ok.
would lucas fix help or is it just bad luck that the reverse is at his end
I have done this job two times before so I had some experience

If you lost line pressure due to a failed oil pump, the chances of you nuking the paper thin clutches are high!

Just a thought..

Did you pull the valvebody apart?

I checked everything 5 times with rave.Fitting a new oil pump is not too difficult. The pump works fine. The starange thing is.......my first testride the reverse worked fine
the second test ride after 2 hours the reverse started crawling

The problem with rave is the valvepack combinations can be listed backwards which causes issues..

How are the forward gears?

it makes no dfiference cold or warm.
I made a longer testride today.I must say the box is not as smooth as it was before. The first three gears go rather well. the fourth gear is sticky

is the oil level full I know sound silly asking i have same with mine I changed oil and filter and found it was sluggish and when I checked it wasn't quite full with fluid after it had been on run

Fluid is checked with the engine cold, idling, and having shifted through all the gears. Basically start it in the morning, run up and down the gears, get out and dip the fluid and it should be on the top mark. If it is on the top mark with things hot and the engine stopped, it is WAY low.

You have cocked somthing up sounds like reverse clutch is not getting pressure. Auto boxes are not something to play with unless you really know what you are doing.
