Rev counter

It's a landy, don't rev it to hell and back and you're not going to over rev it.

In 1st for every 1000rpm you do about 5mph, 10 in 2nd so on and so forth up to 25mph for every 1000 in 5th.

You can work it out near enough.

Following that rule of thumb It's a waste of time having a rev counter then! Saved some dollars there then!

It comes in handy too when you want to change gears without the clutch!

30mph in 4th means 1500rpm, so if you want to push it into 3rd without the clutch increase the revs a smidge until it sounds like about 2000rpm and gently push, if you get it right into 3rd it goes NO GRINDING AT ALL!

If you can do that with someone in the car who knows how to do it with a tacho they will be REALLY impressed!

STOP!!! (well other than the advice not to fit one, which is good advice!)

If you get one for a petrol engine (ie with 4, 6 or 8 on the back) it will NOT work and will not fit to the back of the alrternator, and will show (on the 4 setting) that you are ticking over at 6000 revs (6 and 8 settings go of fthe scale!) - you need a specific diesel one which are far rarer than the standard 52mm ones, most of which are for boy racers with petrol engines. Warning again...THESE WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR LANDY!!!

In a typical Landy the alternator is running about 3 or 4 times engine speed. It varies depending which model you have

You will need an alternator from a Disco-with-rev-counter and matching revcounter.

Wiring isn't entirely easy, but not impossible.

For most of us then CharlseY this will translate to impossible ;-)
