Is there an easy way to retrieve a dropped socket bit that is on the undertray on my 06 TD4?

Or do I have to remove the damn tray?

Very wet here today and am working outside on the road so am hoping there is an easy and non wet way of retrieving this. :)

Best thing is a telescopic magnet tool, I had the exact same thing happen yesterday and luckily had one in my bag. If you dont have one tesco's, homebase, b n q and the like all sell them cheap

I am visiting a large Tesco's later, so will look there.
I won't use the FL until either I have retrieved it or given up. :)

go in by the side protectors just pull them upwards you should see it from there if you drive the car you will loose it or stick it into reverse and then bang on the brakes things sometimes come out the back.

I managed to get it out by banging the under-tray repeatedly making the socket bit bounce until it dropped out onto the road.
Damn glad this was a quick retrieval as it is chucking it down today and very cold and windy.

Grats dog-man nothing fixes problems like giving it a bang lol, its worth getting one of the magnet tools, come in so handy and have a light in them. Saw one today for £2.99 in Tesco's, Rolyson is the make I think

I aim to get one.

In fact, I went to Tesco yesterday purely to get one, but came away with various other items and forgot to get the tool.
That's why I resorted to bashing the under-tray to make the socket bit bounce. :D

I've done this several times!! I've always been successful by reversing up my ramps, then banging the undertray. This causes the socket to bounce near the bottom of the radiator, then I just hook it out with a bit of wire. Good luck!
