Respray Dilemma... caledonian blue or other

My 2000 td5 came out the factory with caledonian blue. Originally my plan was to repaint in the same colour, even bought 4 litres of the stuff.
The land rover is all rubbed down, roof off, side panels and windscreen off. So 75% was going to resprayed the same colour.

However, my dilemma is... the colour is appearing dated now the more you revise the market. And I wondered if it would be better changing the colour to a more modern blue? Engine bay and behind the dash would remain original paint.

Which would you say is likely to hold or increase the value? I liked the originality of the same paint, as the engine bay and behind dash/seatbox is the same.
But then prefer the more modern land rover colours.

Your thoughts please guys. Photos welcome too

Original if you’re keeping it, more ‘modern’ if you’re selling.

I think in the future original vehicles will become more sought after, harder to find and command a higher price.

A fresh coat of Caledonian Blue would look ok, it's one of those colours that looks good new but seems to fade worse than the dark metallics over time

Original blue gets my vote, and if you are going to change the colour change it to a different original colour rather than a modern colour. they look better in the classic colours and I agree with @Lief Zpring in time the originals will be the more sort after. Incidentally if you do change the colour the correct colour for any land rover is Massai red because that's the colour mine are

Caledonian blue is the most cost effective colour for your td5.
Paint it any colour that suits you, forget future value, enjoy it now.
Paint it gun metal grey.

I would keep it to Caledonian blue as Land Rover intended - but i have got a thing about keeping the older defenders original as so many have been modded to death.

Best colour, in the world, ever , period.

That's not Caledonian blue this is,
Though I prefer Highland railway green,

Disagree. Masai red for the win, with desert mud detailing

Tamar Blue is a nice defender colour

Coris grey and Keswick green are my two favourites.

Only if you are broke down and need to be spotted from the air, if you dont, and even better if the sea is nearby, Cali Blue is the only colour you will ever need.

The coastline should be Masai red as well! Although I will admit there is not much red in there as it needs a rinse down.

I like that, it matches the Martian landscape, but on this planet, at the beach, Cali Blue is your one and only.



It also works surprisingly well in Olive groves.

On this planet on the beach it should still be Masai red, whether rock:


or sand beaches:


And if you want to play in the forest then it is still better for that as well.

Lots of angry bears attracted to Red in the forest, Blue on the other hand doesnt anger bears at all.



I also find that mud looks better on Blue.

Even before repainting Masai red looks better in the mud


And if you are above the cloud line you cannot be seen in blue
