I'd like to tweak my pump but the guy I bought it off said he had done it, he wasnt the sharpest tool tho, from what I made out he had only done the low end with the torx screw on the top and nt the diaphragm, does anyone know where factory standard setting is so I can start from scratch?

It's more the diaphragm I thinking about,

It smokes at the bottom end and only a tiny bit when on boost, I just don't want to take it to far, I'm trying to find some on to borrow a boost gauge from yo see if my turbo has been adjusted, it seams quick in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear just the turbo spools up and it just won't pull it really struggles

If you give it lots of loud pedal on the motorway it just might make 60, and it smells like burning, had a quick look tonight and there's oil on the head, think it might be coming from the inlet gasket.

Yeah I have already seen that, I was just wondering if there was a oritty sure way to determin, if I look at the bolts holding it together and they are all chewed them I'm guessing its been tampered with,

Find a decent mechanic who knows his way around the system and get it adjusted that way !!
It's easy if you know how !!!!

I do know how, the problem is I'm not sure if its been done already and don't want to I blowing stuff up .

I'll have a look at it mate, there piece of cake to tweak properly. Its all about finding the right balance between been economical and going well. Mine runs 1.5bar boost and pulls well in all gears from low revs, it does black smoke abit but it comes in handy when someone's up your arse or cyclists riding side bside if ya get me

thats why i did mine lol

1.5bar!? That seems a lot for a 300. Are you running an updated intercooler to keep temperature down? Do you monitor your exhaust gas temperature?

It's a 200 in mine mate, yeah im running a allisport full width intercooler it made loads of difference to my egt's, I'm saving for a vnt hybrid turbo now! Engine has run like this for years now I drive it hard daily and it copes with the abuse..

I'd suggest to warrior he checks his intercooler, if the fins are blocked the air inside will not cool and that's prob why his power drops off in 3rd gear

did mine not long ago, nuff said :D:D:D

clutch on its way out now  bit to much right foot after doing it, its much nicer to drive though...

personally, Id follow the tweak instructions, step at a time, if you go too far, it'll smoke like hell, then back it off so it doesn't. do it one at a time.

mines just trundled me down to Leicester at 60 quite easily, got up to 70 (n a bit more) and was still pulling well.

best bit about the tweak is not having to run it on the turbo all the time round town to get anywhere. low down is MUCH better

hi ive just adjusted my pump today as per the thsread on here.
im thinking I should get an uprated intercooler. is the ali sport the best and will a full width one fit on my es with aircon?

thanks Ed

His s a 200 tdi and yes he has a full width intercooler, I've fit a boost gauge on mine and its boosting to 1.5 bar I know if I abuse it then ill break it, if I'm carefull it will be fine its been like this r 2 years.
