in a new pickle
after a recent thread got me thinking ( oh dear )

we all know that threads can be reported

what if a reported post can be visable? not who its been reported by but so that every member can see that particular post has been reported ?

will help members get the gist of what is and is not allowed and stop people such as me accidently crossing the line !

what you all think?

Post reported as complete twaddle.

Listen to what BB advises. He's a tree wearing, sandal hugging appathyist and hates the bad karma that banning people brings. Don't presume you'll get a PM warning.

not necessarily ,

if it was visibly reported and all members could see it , its ideal the poster knows he has gone over the top and ( usually) keys it back a bit

Just imagine the **** storm that would cause

All sorts of posts gets reported and for many different reasons...asking to be removed/moved/highlighted/flagged to admin/edited.......

As for posts being reported for being out of order in some way you wouldn't believe what inspires some folk to push the button

Sometimes I can manage to read posts all on my own without them being reported :p

Yellows right so far as PM conversations go when I think someone is overstepping the mark but the conversation shouldn't need to be had more than once.

that may be but even so it will make the poster think

just figured its quite simple to do and could educate and avoid aggro , people like me don't always know they are out of order, this would help with that

could have 2 buttons with one soley for offencive posts?

Or you could listen when I post on an issue we have had quite an in depth discussion about instead of arguing

just to be clear it would not be visable who reported it , just the fact it has been reported , much of the time its not the same person that the post is aimed at reports it

Lol

See subtle hints are made, some times an infraction is given and that automatically reports to mod forum.

I keep out of most things apart from deleting spam visitor messages of which beasty will tell you I'm ocd about getting them banned

mods need not do anything if the poster knows he they have done something wrong

basicly if I see my post has been reported I will then key it back a bit with no need for a pm from a mod

well some of us think its a good idea......

Define offensive?

What's offensive to one person is not to another.

The current system seems to work ok. If reported posts are not a black and white decision then a consensus will be reached by MODS by private discussion. If there is no agreement by MODS then it goes to the omnipotent being that is Accy's mum to decide what sentence is suitable.

anything that is offencive to somebody , could be any reason but not used for threads in the wrong section for example

there seems a lot of human intervention where there does not need to be

Haven't we got enough of a nanny state as it is without introducing yet more ways for NIMBY's to whine about something they don't like?

The admins do a fecking good job on this forum, and those that post spam, ****e or stoopid things are very quickly smoked out by the sharp end of LZ members.

If you want to know where the limits are, then read, learn and try - it's called getting a fecking clue.

there are not more ways at all , as someone said people press the report button for anything from wrong section posts to offencive ones

it just makes things clear for the poster
also the mods know straighaway why a post has been reported depending on which of 2 buttons have been used ( offence 1 / anything else 2 )

it might be worth you re-reading this thread , im not very clear when typing and I don't think you have understood what im trying to say

Oh fer ####s sake. You have been given plenty of advice/ subtle hints/ guidance quite plainly when you have been getting close to the knuckle re what the mods consider acceptable. Do I have to come and beat it into you with a bit of 6" x 3" oak?:emps1::deadhorse::5bbeatdeadhorse5:

It's quite simple- if you can hear the flip-flop of BB's sandals then go find another thread to be mildly irate about.

;):D
