My B reg 90 developed a fuel leak a month or so back, checked everything else like pipes etc which meant it had to be the tank itself. If I put in a third of a tank or less it did not leak so I assumed the leak must be on the tank join which is half way up the tank. Decided to just replace the tank as I think its probably the original so getting on for 30 years old!!
Mine is located under the driver seat with a single sender hole which I think they used on the early 90's. Had a job finding one in stock. Was dreading doing it as all the posts on here and elsewhere said it was a horrid job so even called local independent to get a quote and the guy wanted 350 quid plus parts as "its a horrid job". So decided to go for it over the weekend.
It is a pig of a job getting those bolts off, especially when they are 30 year old!! On Sunday night, having got the new one in, I was a happy man but went to bed at 9pm as I was so knackered.
Just wanted to share it with you boys....I love that feeling of happiness of a job well done......the skinned knuckles, aching neck and stomach muscles I am less fond of
