replacing fuel filter air in system

just reading the haynes manual about replacing the fuel filter they say its
important not to get air in the system or the system will require bleeding.
just seen a website that says that 200tdi and 300tdi are self bleeding, and
not to worry about getting air in the system. are they self bleeding?

To an extent - if you fill the new filter with fuel you will have no
problems. If you fit it empty, just occasionaly they decide to want
bleeding.

There is a bleed screw on top of the filter housing, just open this and
manually pump the lift pump to expell the air. All will then be OK.
