I'm gonna replace me front shocks this weekend on my 110.

Do I need spring compressors to get them out or will the axle drop enough?

Also changing the PAS pump and steering UJ'S at the same time.

Any tips for bleeding the steering?

Once thats all done other than the radius arm bushes all the front end steering setup will be new :D

So yeah i'll be on me own doing it.

Best pop to me mum and dads and pick my spring compressors up.

Dont need spring compressors. Jack the motor up on the axle and put axle stands under the front chassis rails. Loosen the bottom shock nuts and, making sure the motor is secure, lower the jack which will let the axle drop enough to remove the springs. Do what you gotta do, reassemble, jack the axle back up and secure the bottom nut on the shocks, jack up enough to remove axle stands and Bob's yer dad's sister.

I don't need to remove the turrets do I so why would I need new mounting rings?

You don't need to remove the turrets, but you should be prepared to cut the top nut off, as the shock will almost certainty start turning before you manage to get the nut undone... Or maybe I was just unlucky with mine.

I've got an impact gun so hopefully that'll gun it off ok.

Plus I know the front springs (but not shocks!?!) We're upgraded by the previous owner last year, so hopefully they will come undone ok.... (he says! Lol!)

My springs came out very easily, but my shocks wouldn't come out, even with an impact gun!

I eventually cut the buggers off, but managed to cut through a fuel pipe in the process

If your leaving springs in situ then turret rings will need to come off or you'll need to force axle down and remove springs. in order to get shocks out.

to remove shocks a recip saw straight up thru bottom stud and nut. is simplest and quickest option. Same for top nut. or grip shocker with a good set of stilsons. whilst undoing nuts.

When I didn't this I found the rears came out easily once the axle was allowed to drop, but the fronts needed spring compressors. I didn't want to distort things too much by forcing the axle down. Anyway, with an impact gun the compressors are really quick and easy to do up, so you might as well use them. Also, once the springs are squashed shorter it's a whole lot easier to get the shock absorbers into position past the axle.

I replaced my shocks and turrets at same time, however my method was :

Remove turret
Remove shock (this took some time due to bottom nut being rusted)
Raise axle to compress spring
Use ratchet strap to hold spring together
Drop Axle
Remove/catch spring as it falls out.
Consider a sensible way of removing ratchet strap as it now had a compressed spring in it :D

Tape a Stanley knife to a long stick and very carefully cut the strap, preferably whilst hiding behind a wall.
