Morning all,

I am half way through installing (and blowing out and cleaning inside the dash) my new stereo in the Disco. So far I have removed the standard head unit and CD changer and begun tidying the wiring loom to allow a bit more room for the new one.

My question, as the speakers are all running through an amp (the built-in LR amp), my first test of my new Alpine head unit worked fine but the sound was loud, even on 1. I'm guessing this is because the new head unit is amplifying the sound as too the amp. So, I am thinking of making a cable that connects from the speaker terminal block to 4 phono leads to connect to the back of my head unit which in theory should allow me to turn of the head unit amplification and just use the standard amp. Would this work? Would I still get sound?

I will have the under-seat sub sitting where the CD changer was connecting to the SW phonos and the front and rear speakers connecting to the remaining 4 phonos.

This is the manual for the head unit I am fitting - http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk...istory_products/CDA-9847R/OM_CDA-9847R_EN.pdf

Cheers

Will

Have a look on p20 of the instructions and it shows how to run an external amp and switch off the internal amp.

Thanks for the reply.

That's what I was going to do but I was just seeing if my plan to connect using the phonos and turning off the internal amp would work.
