I`m pretty sure yes, only main dealer,,but suggest a p.m. to Irishranger will confirm this. (he does know more about these things than me, or most of us). Don`t be tempted by cheapo ones off ebay or where-ever that come with no code plugged in!

No stealers have this one sewn up about 120 a go. Check what key you have already, they are numbered 1-4 and get the next one up. two keys with the same number cause p38s to have serious hissy fits

Check with Irishrover first but I don`think there`s any shortcuts on this one. (and did mean Irishrover not Irishranger sorry). He has lots of elec knowledge and experience including BECMs etc so can give a definative answer rather than my best guess!

120% certain that second hand keyfobs from Ebay etc. cannot be "Reprogrammed" by a dealer to match your existing keyfob.
The only way it can be done is if you have at least the VIN of the donor keys and the Becm is reprogrammed to suit them.
As has been posted, using two keyfobs of the same number (Key 1, Key 2 etc) will confuse the Becm and the keys will have to be resynchronised each time the "Other" key is used.
TIP:
If you have a keyfob and are lucky enough to know what number it is, scratch the number onto the back of the fob as the labels tend to come off after time. It is difficult to tell the difference between key 1 & 2 sometimes.
