Hello,

I am currently looking at a 1985 90, its a v8 with a 4-speed gear box. I think it was originally a diesel, am i right in thinking the 90 v8 only ever came with a 5 speed?

anyway the question, i'm thinking of replacing the 4 speed, and i'd like to know 1 - is it worth it? 2 - what gear box, considering i might tune the v8 up? 3 - whats mods are required? would i need new bell housing etc?

I was also just reading about changing the transfer box to a range rover one, with a higher ratio. would this be a better option? im thinking just so it can have a half decent cruising speed.

Cheers in advanced

the first came with the 4 speed lt95 ,then 5 speed lt85 and 5 speed lt77,id fit a v8 r380 with 1.2 disco /rrc lt230 t/box, it would require quite a lot of work, floor plates and tunnel cross member ,mounts, props etc
