Hello,

I recently purchased a 2004 Defender TD5.

Everything looks pretty good except for some oil at the ECU plug. I understand this is a common problem on a TD5.

I am going to replace the injector wiring harness and I was wondering which brand was the best?

Is it only a temporary fix? By that I mean, is it a problem that will always re-occur in the future, or has an aftermarket solution been developed?

I assume a genuine Land Rover part will be exactly the same, and therefore have exactly the same problem.

Thanks very much.

Buy the genuine part, l think the Britpart one is OE in their box.
After you replace it, oil will continue to come out at the ECU for a while until it's all leeched out.
lt took two weeks for mine to stop after l replaced the harness in the engine. Also you can remove the rubber seal from the plug on the ECU to stop the oil from possibly getting into the ECU.
If you remove the seal, the oil will just drip out on to the floor in the compartment.
The harnesses seem to last a few years, maybe change it every third service.

Thanks for the help lightning.

Quick question:

Lrdirect.com ship to Portugal, and seem to have all the parts I need. Although I am a bit confused about which parts are genuine.

If you look at this page: https://www.lrdirect.com/AMR6103-Wiring-Harness-Injectors-Td5/?keep_https=yes

There is OEM, LR, Land Rover, Original Equipment, etc...

I was led to believe that a G at the end of the part number meant it was genuine. But on this page the 'Original Equipment' part has a G and is €35, and the 'Land Rover" part does not have a G, but is €70. Which part is the one to go for?

Also the 'LR' part is 'an original part from Land Rover' but supplied by Britpart, who I have heard negative things about.

I am a bit confused.

Are lrdirect.com a reputable company as far as anyone knows?

Thanks.
