Replacement chassis recommended garages

Hi lovely people. My landrover 110 has major chassis rust problem (1995 reg so no suprise) Can anyone recommend a chasis swap garage ideally not to far from ( SW Scotland) My local garage says he won’t do it till he has done his grrrrrr! Admins please move if this is in the wrong place I wasn’t sure?? Thank you all in advance for all your help

Any reason you can't do it yourself?

Also, if that is your full postcode in your post, I would remove it, or you may not have a landrover to re-chassis.

Go to the post you want to edit, at the bottom LHS of the post, it will say "Edit". Click on it, and edit.

I could do it myself but.....
A I don’t have anywhere to work in the dry
B I use it every day and can’t manage to wait months while I fix it in between everything else

Quite possible to do it outside, especially if you have assistance.

And I wouldn't expect any garage to do that in a few days either, it is a fair size job, and they will probably have to do it around other work, unless it is a very big outfit. And they will charge a lot of money to do it.

Depends on how good you are at doing it. And you will need assistance, or at least an engine crane or similar, some of the components are too heavy to lift on your own.
I would guess if you did it in an organised way, and stuck at it, you could do it in a fortnight working forty hour weeks.

I did mine in two weeks, working both weekends and every night after work. You have to not try and make it a resto and just stick to swapping the chassis (easier said than done), and its very doable!

I put up a basic scaff tower with timber through the doors and under the rear, and lifted the body off on ratchets. You need to take front wings off for ease of access and rad and plumbing, the rest is so straightforward!

You'll have to expect to patch front of the tub where it connects to chassis outriggers and change all plastic push fits for fuel lines and front wheel arch spats.

Go for it mate, very satisfying and much cheaper, id say you could be looking at £4-£5k for a chassis swap paying day rates in a garage!

What I have seen with this is that it helps a lot to stockpile the components that you will want to replace before starting the job. Which not only means you don't have to wait for parts delivery, but that you can just cut away some of the rusty old bits with a grinder, saving further on time.

I did mine outside, took me about 3 months (it was winter, so short days) doing it at weekends (weather dependent) and a few days off work. Just bought a cheap focus to run about in. Didn't do a full on resto ,but replaced what made sense to while everything was stripped down.

I did my own chassis swap when I was left my Grandfathers old workshop I had been considering using these guys before i got the workshop.

I've heard good things about both these garages. Also In Queensferry there is another garage thats quite new I don't know anyone who has used them but had some nice Land rovers on Display at the Scottinsh Landrover Show.

Gibson’s Autos in Cumnock do lots of chassis swaps and are good lads.

I’ve just finished doing mine, took me about 12-14 days in all spread over about five weeks - mostly weekends with the odd extra day on bank hols etc. Did it on my own, lifted the body off in one using a block & tackle off a lifting frame. Only need to remove the front radiator panel and the bonnet, rest can all stay on.

I replaced a few extra things while I was there, front axle casing, fuel tank, various bushes etc. Total cost just under £4K including the chassis. You need a fair amount of space for this method.
