As the title says really, am after a replacement box.
The one I hoiked out is model# 1043 010748.
Have seen some autoboxes on the likes of eBay, none of which have exactly the same number (eg one is the same except last digit is 7).
My question is does the model# need to be the same? I got a 95' 300tdi which has EDC so there's a sensor in the top of bellhousing.
I have microcat, although unfortunately can't get it to work on me works compooter.
Can anyone advise? I wanna get a gearbox put back in before it starts getting frosty!!
Thanks :D

Not much! Looking to get a second hand unit from a dead disco and just hope it's in good working order.
Have seen some going private on th'ebay in the region of 100-150squid, in fact I could have got one for 75 as noone else was bidding on it but the phone lost signal!!

If I was sensible I'd prob get a reconditioned unit which I know would last and come with warranty, but that kinda defeats the object of this project, the landy itself only cost me £300! :)

Nobody know whether the model # of a replacement box has to be exactly the same??
God this forum's rubbish!! :p

Hi Wayne, mines got EDC apparently the non EDC ones don't have the sensor on flywheel (top of bellhousing). Don't know if there are any other differences.
Am interested in your autobox, did it come from an EDC version?
If you're 100% sure it's the same as mine, how little will you sell it for?! ;) :D

what I did was ring ashcrofts with the number of mine and they told me which ones were compatitable, I then went out and sourced a used one :)

I got no joy today with Ashcrofts they just wanted to sell me a box.
Managed to get Microcat up an running (courtesy of Smarty) but can't seem to find anwhere to input model numbers.
Looking on the web Ive managed to find a box with the following number:
1043010744
mine: 1043010748.
Anyone know if that last digit makes a difference or where I can find out?
This is doing my head in now!!
If the only difference between EDC and non EDC versions is the sensor on top of flywheel then I guess I could just swap the bellhousing with a non-EDC version.
Or are there other differences?
Help!!

Hi Graham,
Glad you got Microcat working, cant you ask if the gearbox has the sensor the same as yours? Failing that try and get hold of discowayne again about that one,as it's off a newer age disco surely that would be ok?

Hi Darren, thanks again for the disc will come in very handy for getting hold of correct part numbers etc
I asked the question yesterday regarding age and electrickary of the box on the web, waiting on a reply.
As for DiscoWayne he's gone AWOL!! :D Last activity Thurs

Yeh, cost of a courier will bump it up a bit though.
Means I'll have a transfer box up for grabs at some point..
