You can actually buy a plug in cd/DVD drive for computers without them, not very expensive and are worth having if your laptop doesn't have one.

Right I am going to PM you a copy of the EAS file from my computer that is unlocked and ready to use. Just bear with me

The Zip file opens fine on Windows & Mac as long as the download isn't corrupt, although you cannot install on mac oSX.
  • Some anti-virus programs do mess with EAS Unlock, so temporarily disable and download again.
  • What version of Windows do you have ? Older versions need Winzip to extract the EXE file.
Step by Step:
  1. Download the ZIP file again after disabling anti-virus.
  2. Open two Windows Explorer windows and navigate to your Downloads folder.
  3. In one window double click the ZIP file.
  4. Then drag the contents to the other Explorer window.
  5. Finally run the EXE to install EAS Unlock.
Next you might have problems with the USB-Serial cable depending on where you got it from. It needs to be a non-Chinese cable from a reputable source, and you will need correct FTDI drivers and not the Windows default.

I have offered to help peeps in the past using remote access to their PC, but most get there in the end !! The remote support is approx.1 pint of Guinness per hour !!

Well I'm running Windows 10, I'll try downloading after disabling he anti virus.i have the download on my laptop and after talking to @Rubberknees I'll try to Bluetooth it to my tablet. It's only as a backup incase the old laptop gives up the ghost.

I always keep a copy of important files. I have the EAS on 2 laptops, desktop and a back up hard drive I have. That way I always know I have a working copy

Right here's an update on my progress so far. Storey Wilson recommends the HP Stream 7 to use with his software. Searched on line and they do get very good reviews, so searched on the bay and other sites for one. Not many second hand ones for sale but got a decent one from bay seller for £45. Played around over the weekend with it and every thing works OK. It's downloaded the free EAS software and un zipped it no problem. The software opens easily and all the tabs work. Have ordered a cable to connect serial port to it. When it arrives will post further update.
