The photo of the back corner represents its real colour the best. And I'd assume they didn't use too many dark blues for 2005 TD5s, did they? ;-)
 
Rear capping flap disc, rust convert and paint

Door bottom wire brush, rust convert then spray the inside bottom for the door with aerosol wire rope/chain lube, great stuff gets in all the nooks an crannies to stop the rust dead.

Bulkhead one really needs screen frame removing to see what the top of the rail is like, treat/paint, new seal and refit.

Do you use rust convert on alloy as well or just steel? any preferred rust converter?

Don't know of any for the alloy, but that doesn't mean it's not available. The alloy is much easier to rub back to smooth, shiny metal so not needed.
Lots available for steel. I like Fertan. However, the success to using any is getting the steel clean and grease free. Get the thick rust off and then de-grease with panel wipe or brake cleaner etc. Then apply your rust converter as per instructions on the bottle.
