evening all, thought I might get some advice and figured a thread with this many posts/views would be a good source, I somehow managed to single handedly catastrophically destroy my TD5 engine of only 112,000 miles 2004 defender 90 I'm the 3rd owner bought 3 years ago..... she's currently in the garage with a quote of just over £10g's for a reconditioned turner engineering engine and turbo plus all the tosh that goes with It.... now a friend of my sisters who owns a landcover camping experience rental in Cornwall has suggested getting a new/reconditioned transmission as well while the engines being taken out, he's recommended Ashcroft transmissions, would it be wise to get a new clutch at the same time, my thinking is with a new engine of 0 miles fitted with parts over 112,000 miles, or is it a case of if its not broken don't replace it ????. I will be calling the garage on Monday morning 22nd to have the engine ordered and work begins.
