Renewing Front Pads

Hi,

I'm contemplating renewing the Pads on my 300tdi. Just been looking at the Haynes manual and have a couple of quick question. Firstly it looks from the photos like you don't need to remove the caliper to get them out is this correct? And also it say that you have to renew the anti virbraption spring and pin everytime is this correct and if so is it likely to come with the pads or be a seperate bit?

Everywhere I've looked they're seperate, I'm in the same boat at the minute and the little fitting kit is only about £1 odd at most places.

all the pads ive bought it came with the new spring and pin, takes 2 mins to replace all of it anyway

They do come as a seperate kit, and definately do not have to take caliper off to do this. There are a couple of different patterns of pads though so if your local motor factors is nearby, or if you have got access to another vehicle, take an old pad with you. Simples....

I have just renewed mine and was so simple haynes made it look hard,

Pull 2 pins out of top of caliper, lift old pads out, push pistons back drop new pads in push pins back through holes, took 10 mins a wheel and that included jacking and wheel removel and refitting, as for anti rattle springs, i guess you can replace them but i didnt i just reused the ones that were there and have had no problems as of yet and im on 400miles so far.

Got the pads from andrew page both front (£16)and back (£13) no fitting kit
