Removing Freebie Back passenger seats

Was just wondering if anyone knew the size of special T socket i need to remove the screws that will help me remove the back passenger seats of my Freelander 2001 TD4 Station Wagon. Looking at it I know its a special socket ( possibly a T40 or a T50) but I need one asap. I want to get one from ebay or something but unsure what size i will need. Is it worth buying a cheap set as maybe more of the freeby has these sockets ?

Hello. I have just checked for you and it is a T40. Also used to adjust the Torx screws on locking plates on the door jams. However, you will need a T25 to remove the drivers door lock when that fails! I suggest you buy a good quality set (eg Draper) as the larger screws are very tight. You will also need a suitable ratchet or T bar and an adapter if necessary (the ones provided in socket sets are ideal).

Thanks very Ertin , funny old thing my drivers solenoid has just gone , 3 of my 5 electric windows went all at the same time (yep the cables) but thanks to Northern Irelanders repair they all working now

I will go on ebay right now at get the sockets , as I have the Huskys I need to fit the large crate in the back to travel down south and removing the seats will give me the room to fit it

Yeah as an engineer myself and working in a place where we just wrote of a lot of tools , my garage looks healthier than ever but yeah point taken on pikey bits , I will buy quality only

Sorry to hear about windows and drivers lock solenoid. Does the button refuse to come up when you unlock the door? If so, I'm afraid its a new lock assy. as they are not designed to be dismantled. Cost me about £73 from LR. Also tricky to fit the first time - Haynes Manual confusing until you realise one of the photos is taken from inside the door! And you don't need to drill out the pop rivets for the internal handle - the cable can be removed from the lock end.

Yeah nice one , dont have Haynes manual but Im used to fixing RAF Nimrod aircraft, trust me they are typical 1960s pig with no access to anything , Access i never fear. Have had a look at the door assy and behind it for access to handle, looks tricky but I will manage. Thanks for the tip though , yeah same snag wont unlock when using the electric key fob. I will see what I can salvage from a breakers yard before i resort to last L/R Prices
