Hi folks, my apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere. My crankshaft damper became detached from the pulley. Got car lifted to garage and left it with them. A later took a visit. They had cleared the way to remove the bolt. I watched as they used the breaker on the chassis with no luck. Then an array of impact wrenches still not luck. They had used a soak to ease the thread. I left them to consider their next option to heat up the bolt.

The question is. ... how to get it out. Just brute force, heating acetylene and dry ice freezing. Just brute force. Cutting away the flange to create less friction. What are the options? How strong is the bolt is there a point when it will fracture then what?

Any help and thoughts appreciated for me, my mechanic and the wider community would be helpful. I suppose it is one of those things for cars that a semi amphibious. Eh!

I have managed to loosen the bolt on a 4.6 Range Rover, a 300TDi Discovery and a TD5 Discovery using nothing more than an old Serpentine belt and a 4ft Scaffold pole

I only have the photos from the 300TDi
