Heres one for you...

I've been having the dreaded central locking problem where the rear and the boot doors will lock remotely with the key fob but the front and the passenger door will not. These have to be locked with the actual door lock on the passenger door and then with the key on the drivers door.

I've been looking into it and some of you guys on here say its likely to be a lock actuator that's burnt out seeming as its both front doors and not just one they are linked I guess..

I've looked on flebay and a new set of these door lock actuators is going to cost around £80 for second hand ones and for new ones a lot more..

soo would anyone be able to tell me if the rear boot actuator is the same or could be modified to do the same job? these on ebay go for peanuts!!

Boot actuator is just solenoid that works a sequential catch. Door locks are self contained units worked by electric motors.

You can swap the motor's from rear locks to use in the front ones, but the breakers are on to this and the price of rear's has gone up. You could have a micro switch problem in the drivers door latch if some are locking and some are not. When my front locks burnt out it was a R/F receiver problem which ,if not solved, will burn out any replacement locks you fit. There are numerous posts on this problem on here :)

That's fine it was a silly question in some respects but one I needed to ask id of kicked myself if there had been a way to do it.

are the front and rear ones the same or do they differ?

many thanks

That's good to know I have 2 spare rear locks and one dodgy front passenger lock :)

All different but you can strip and change the motors from any lock. Only the drivers lock has micro switches. As I said if the front locks have burnt out find out why.:)

Thanks for the great response .

I'm not sure if it's relevant but I understand that the drivers side (UK) has a micro switch that controls the boot lock. My boot unlocks fine on the fob ... So could it be something else?

That will not stop the motor for the drivers door lock being burnt out.
