remote keys

hi everyone,
i am new to all this,so its great to be here
can anyone help me i have just bought a 2000 4.6 hse and its great,but i am having a few problems with the key,it will open the car most of the time but sometimes it can take uo to 10/15 goes.
has anyone had this problem ,my emergency code does not work,i have to be on top of car to open it and point at door handle,i have both keys and both the same ,i just know its one of those things thats going to come and bite me on the bum one day,has anyone got any ideas because its doing my head in .

hello,
it sounds like a disconnected aerial cable at the remote receiver. swapping to the latest part nr. receiver should help. it is under the right hand trim in boot space - forum search will help.
emergency code not working could be faulty drivers door latch or disconnected linkage inside the door trim (drivers side). both are common faults.
this problem has to be solved before changing the receiver or key fob batteries, otherwise it will be very difficult to synchronise the keys to the new part.
the led light should go on when pressing the buttons on the key fob.
